Over 100 million rubles will be allocated for completing the intelligent transportation system (ITS) in Makhachkala in 2023. Overall, as part of the final stage, over 160 traffic lights will be replaced in the city in 2023.
"In 2023 it is planned to spend 106 million rubles to subsidize completion of the third stage of the project. As part of the final stage it is planned to upgrade traffic lights in the main streets with the heaviest traffic, such as Ali-Gadzhi Akushinsky Avenue and Gamidov Avenue," stated Daniil Khazov, Chief Commercial Officer at Urbantech.
Implementation of the first two ITS stages in Makhachkala made it possible to increase throughput of Peter I Avenue and Rasul Gamzatov Avenue in peak hours in the morning and evening by 14% and 12% respectively in 2022. Implementation of a smart traffic light with adaptive control at the crossing of Yaragsky Street and Gagarin Street increased the throughput by 15%.
