Urbantech Group of Companies Acquired a Controlling Stake in the Manufacturer of Azimut Traffic Enforcement Camera Systems

Urbantech Group of Companies acquired a 55% stake in Road Safety Technologies LLC (TBDD), which is among the TOP 5 independent Russian developers of road safety technologies and equipment.

Urbantech Group of Companies unites developers and integrators of digital solutions for the transportation industry. The Group’s projects include the largest build-operate-transfer project on road safety in the Moscow Region, projects on design and implementation of the intelligent transportation system (ITS) system in the Nizhny Novgorod Region and the Republic of Dagestan.

LLC TBDD is the Russian developer and manufacturer of traffic enforcement camera systems which has operated since 1999. The Azimut systems designed in 2014, 2016 and 2018 have been recognized as the best Russian development as part of the award by the Main Directorate for Traffic Safety of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation. The systems recognize 25 types of traffic violations, including those detected using data processing by neural networks: an unfastened seat belt, using a telephone when driving, type of cargo, etc.

"Urbantech Group of Companies has invested in a modern technology and a great team of developers which have proven quality and reliability of their solutions during many years of operation in several Russian regions. TBDD’s products are best in class in terms of all key parameters. TBDD is an expert in recognition technologies, so there is considerable potential for developing its products both in the transportation industry and related markets," commented Andrey Denisenko, the founder and shareholder of Urbantech Group of Companies.

Investments of Urbantech Group of Companies in TBDD allow using traffic enforcement camera systems in a larger number of areas. Azimut systems are used for collecting data on construction waste carriers in the Moscow Region. The data are used by the neural network to identify offenders and detect illegal dumps. The solution has enabled the Ministry of Ecology and Nature Management of the Moscow Region to reduce the number of illegal construction waste dumps by almost 50%. In August 2022 the Federal Agency for Forestry (Rosleskhoz) launched a federal project for monitoring timber truck and timber transportation routes based on Azimut systems and neural networks developed by the company.

"In partnership with Urbantech Group of Companies we plan to improve our technologies taking into account market requirements and diversify component suppliers. We also plan to upgrade our production facilities," stated Dmitry Sychikov, CEO of LLC TBDD.
